Becoming a Clear Channel

What does it mean to become a clear channel?

 

For me, and the purpose of this modality, to be a clear channel means to treat yourself with loving kindness. To be sober (or at least have the intent), eat nourishing foods, meditate, practice yoga, drink plenty of water, radiate positive energy, be in tune with your intuition and to do all things in love. These actions will quite literally make you a clear channel and facilitate your connection with your Higher Self and Source.

 

This isn't about attempting to achieve perfection. It's about realizing that we are perfectly imperfect, being OK with that and willing to do the work to get rid of the bullshit holding us back. Being on this planet, having a human experience can become so very messy.  We become attached to suffering. It's a human condition of sorts. We become addicted to people, places, things, feelings, experiences. Sometimes they start as pleasurable and sometimes they are painful yet familiar so we continue to do it over and over. It becomes oddly comfortable and safe. And then we become addicted to it; feeling of the sensation. Addiction reminds me of Stockholm syndrome in a way. The drug, abuser or compulsion becomes the captor and we begin to trust it as our normal even though it is far from healthy. Even everyday idiosyncrasies are used as coping mechanisms for situations we do not know how to deal with properly. 

 

So how do we shift this stuff? By embracing the dark aspects of our selves. The dark parts i.e. stuck/trapped energy needs a detached and calm type of attention brought to it in order to be transformed into light. That’s what shadow work is about and it's just as important as light work. We have to bring light into the dark corners of our minds, bodies and spirits. It's the only way to transmute it. We live, we learn and with faith and grace, we eventually learn not to hold it within ourselves any longer and heal from our suffering.

 

It’s not just about what we put into our bodies as far as food goes. It’s about what we watch, what we read, what and who we listen to.  We are always striving to keep it high vibe until it becomes second nature. For me, that means I don’t watch cable TV. I do read the news but very minimally. I want to be aware of what’s going on in the world but not to let it completely consume me. I am doing my best to stay off Facebook and quit the zombie scrolling on Instagram. In replacement I devote more time to doting on my daughter. I devote more time to self care - yoga, nature walks, meditation, making art, writing, time with friends and family. Catch my drift? 

 

Through Clear Channel Yoga (CCY) we use the power of movement, breath, mantra, visualization, meditation, ritual and community to become a quite literal clear channel. Not only do we create physical strength and space within the body but do so energetically as well. CCY is not the end all be all for total healing as there is no such thing but it is to be used as a tool to assist in transformation. Working with movement, breath and meditation allows us to transmute held energies, trauma, etc that we are in need of releasing. Through the power of intention we call back soul fragments to once again become whole again.

 

When you start devoting yourself to clearing your channel, you will notice your intuition is heightened, you sleep better, things just start to... flow and synchronicity abounds. You become in tune with the universe and the universe becomes in tune with you. In truth, you ARE the universe. 

 

The Microcosmic Orbit meditation is a great way to help move energy throughout the body.  It is a Taoist technique used to circulate prana (energy) that translates into Self Winding Wheel of the Law.

 

This technique was taught to me by one of my much loved teachers. As I mentioned, it is originally a Taoist meditation (think meridians) but for our purposes I will teach it from a yogic perspective (think chakras), as it was taught to me. The meditation is done to create or bring into tune, the natural flow of energy within our body. We create a closed circuit of prana and in doing so repair any energetic ‘leaks’.

 

In its simplest form, we are leading energy up our spines and down the front out of bodies. To start we can simply draw energy from the base of the spine, our Root chakra, up our spine or Sushumna Nadi, to our Crown chakra and down the front of our bodies back to our Root. Breathe in going up and breathe out going down. In through the nose and out through the nose and if you’d like, out through the mouth when you need a bigger release.

 

Once you have the hang of that, let’s take it further and incorporate all of the chakras. T put it very , very simply, chakras are energetic centers of the body. There are seven main chakras with many other "smaller" ones (I will be writing much more on this later).

 

Again, we will start at the base of our spine, at the Root chakra also known as the Muladhara. From there we pause at the coccyx/Sacral chakra or Svadhisthana, then on to the Solar Plexus or Manipura at the point in line just about with your belly button (about two finger widths above it), then up to the Anahata aka the heart, to the C7 vertebrae, to the Vissduha or Throat chakra, to the back of our head, the Crown, Sahasrara, down to the Third eye or Ajna chakra, then to the roof (palate) of our mouth (place tongue there), down to the Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral and finally back down to the Root. Repeat this cycle at least three times. At each location do one cycle of breath. When you feel you are ready to stop actively going thru the circuit, sit still with your eyes closed and see what comes up for you. Drink some water after you have completed the meditation.

 

 

 

If you are willing and able, do this practice everyday for the most benefits.
